Adopting a bird is a very important decision! Please research before you decide to bring a parrot into your life. It is a big responsibilty, just like having a child. Please do no adopt a bird because you think it is cute, or adorable and cuddly. Alot of our rescues became homeless because they were adopted on impulse, and without knowing much about the bird or their behavior, or what their needs would entail, or the time it would take, interaction, etc. They depend on you to love them, to care for them, feed them, provide medical attention, and so on.
Our adoption process is a lengthy one to ensure a wonderful home for the parrots.
We do a thorough screening and background checks on all applicants. We also do home visits before and after the parrot is placed. We will NOT ship birds, so please do not ask!
You also must live within 100 miles of the sanctuary in order to adopt a parrot from EPR!
If you are interested in adopting a bird, please contact us, and we will send you an application via email or regualr mail. Once we receive your application we will pursue the process.
